Logitech is a household name in the world of computer peripherals, renowned for its high-quality and reliable products. This article will delve into the performance, design, and features of four budget-friendly Logitech gaming mice: the Logitech Gaming G502 Hero, Logitech Gaming G403 Hero, G305 Lightspeed, and the G203 Lightsync.
Logitech Gaming G502 Hero
The Logitech Gaming G502 Hero boasts a striking gamer aesthetic, sharp angles, and customizable RGB lighting. With a matte black plastic body and glossy black buttons, it is not only visually appealing but also offers a good grip thanks to its latex-covered sides. The Logitech Gaming G502 gaming mouse comes in two different models. The Logitech Gaming G502 Hero which is a wired gaming mouse and the Logitech Gaming G502 Lightspeed which is the wireless version of the wired model. The only difference between the two is one being wired and one is wireless.
Design and Build
Measuring 5.1″ in length, 3.0″ in width, and 1.7″ in height, the Logitech Gaming G502 Hero is not a small mouse. However, its sturdy build and thumb rest make it very comfortable to use. Its weight can be adjusted using the five 3.6g weights that come with it.
Control and Performance
The Logitech Gaming G502 Hero is equipped with Omron D2FC-F-K mechanical switches, known for their crisp, satisfying tactility. It houses 12 buttons, three of which are on the side. All buttons are programmable, and there’s also a profile switching button and a CPI switching button for on-the-fly adjustments.
The mouse delivers remarkably low and consistent click latency, ensuring a responsive gaming experience. It also has an incremented scroll wheel that can be unlocked for free-scrolling.
Software Compatibility
Logitech’s G HUB software, compatible with both Windows and macOS, allows for a lot of customization options. However, several online users have reported problems with it, such as startup issues and freezing.

(1) This mouse is indeed high quality, boasting numerous buttons that can be personalized to your liking. It possesses a substantial weight, giving it an ergonomic advantage, and it doesn’t come across as inexpensive. The ability to modify its weight is an aspect I particularly enjoy. There was some criticism regarding the scroll wheel being too heavy and causing discomfort when clicked, but I find no such problem. The scroll wheel in fact feels robust and well-constructed, and offers a choice between click scroll and smooth scroll – a feature that I find quite delightful. Although it might be on the more expensive side compared to other options, the value you receive for your money is undeniable with this product.
(2) The original model was in my possession for more than ten years before it began to show signs of mechanical wear and tear. The shape was appealing, and the weight could be adjusted to our liking (my son and I preferred it at the heaviest setting). Occasionally, the right click function would falter. It served a myriad of purposes, from internet surfing, professional tasks, to extensive gaming sessions over the years. This mouse has been with us since my son was merely 4 years old, and it remained his top choice until the right-click function started malfunctioning (he’s 15 now). We’ve recently replaced it. The design remains unchanged, and the feel of the materials is as familiar as ever. Everything feels just as good as it always did, with the addition of an enhanced sensor. I can genuinely notice an increase in the sensor’s responsiveness. All in all, I’m still highly satisfied with this mouse. Perhaps, I might explore one of those “lightweight” mice someday.
Logitech G403 Hero
Next up is the Logitech Gaming G403 Hero. It has a similar shape and button layout as its wireless counterpart, the Logitech Gaming G403 Prodigy Wireless. The matte black finish and side grips blend well with the rest of the mouse, and the scroll wheel and logo are lit up with customizable RGB lighting.
Design and Build
The Logitech Gaming G403 Hero is a wired gaming mouse, and its build quality is great. It feels solid and sturdy, despite being made entirely out of plastic. However, its side buttons may be accidentally activated when squeezed hard.
Control and Performance
The G403 Hero is very comfortable to use and doesn’t cause any fatigue over time. It’s designed for right-handed use and is suitable for most hand sizes. The mouse has a remarkably low and consistent click latency, ensuring a smooth gaming experience.
Software Compatibility
The Logitech Gaming G403 Hero is fully compatible with Logitech’s G HUB software, allowing for customization of performance settings, button remapping, and RGB lighting.

(1) I procured this as a superior replacement for my long-time companion, the Logitech g500. This Logitech gaming mouse is an ideal successor to the g500, matching stride for stride in performance and comfort. The feel is strikingly similar to the g500 and, if possible, it’s even more comfortable due to its slightly more streamlined design. However, there are a few aspects that are less than optimal. For instance, the cord lacks a fabric cover and relies on standard rubber insulation, there’s a reduced array of weight customization options (only a single weight is available), and the lack of a free-scrolling wheel feature.
(2) The design of this mouse truly captivates me. For reasons unknown, this specific mouse aligns perfectly with my hand shape, providing comfort for extended periods of use. However, there’s a drawback as the left clicker tends to develop a double-clicking issue. Over the past four years, I have gone through about four to five identical models of this mouse. Thus, on average, it serves well for a year if used eight hours every day. Predominantly, I utilize this mouse for both work and gaming purposes. The Logitech G-Hub software isn’t exactly top-notch, but downloading it allows you to customize the DPI and all the mouse buttons to your preference. If what you need is a mouse that delivers on all fronts without draining your wallet, this is your go-to option.
Logitech G305 Lightspeed
The Logitech G305 Lightspeed has a classic look and a small, egg-shaped body. It is available in matte black, white, lilac, or blue, and has no RGB zones.
Design and Build
The Logitech Gaming G305 Lightspeed is a portable mouse thanks to its small footprint and wireless capabilities. The build quality is great, with no loose or wobbly parts. It feels almost as premium as some much more expensive options from Logitech.
Control and Performance
The G305 Lightspeed is very comfortable to use, suitable for both left and right-handed people. It delivers a very responsive experience for gaming in any genre, including competitive and reaction-based games.
Software Compatibility
The customization software offers a wide variety of adjustments and options. However, while the mouse has onboard memory, you can only save one profile to the mouse itself at a time.

(1) I am absolutely enamoured by this mouse; it functions precisely as I require and its craftsmanship is top-notch. The lift-off range is barely noticeable, and an added benefit is the incredibly light, easily repeatable clicks. Combined with an exceedingly low click delay, this mouse emerges as an excellent choice for gamers on a budget who are in need of a wireless option. It’s undoubtedly a value for money, especially if you’re reluctant to shell out 60-100 dollars for a superior mouse.
(2) I frequently engage in intense Call Of Duty Warzone sessions where my mouse is an essential tool for victory. The G305 mouse excels in this setting, offering rapid response and precision targeting with minimal effort. It boasts exceptionally fast reaction times and a comfortable grip, enhancing the overall gaming experience! However, it’s not without its flaws, mainly the recurring double-clicking problem. The first unit I owned manifested this issue after 13 months, while it took 19 months for the second one to exhibit the same glitch. Currently, I’m using my third G305…
I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried the Steelseries Rival 3, driven by the desire for longevity and a change from my annual mouse replacement routine. Despite this, the G305 still feels vastly superior. The durability of the SteelSeries remains to be tested, but when compared pound for pound, the Logitech gaming G305 stands tall as the more effective mouse, at least to me.
Logitech G203 Lightsync
Last but not least, the Logitech Gaming G203 Lightsync has a standard matte finish with no RGB lighting. It has a standard incremented mouse wheel and a total of six buttons, including two on the side.
Design and Build
The G203 Lightsync measures 4.6″ in length, 2.5″ in width, and 1.5″ in height. Even though this mouse has a slight curve and its side buttons are on the left side, it is fairly ambidextrous and should work well for both left and right-handed people.
Control and Performance
The G203 Lightsync provides a very responsive gaming experience due to its low click latency. All the buttons are programmable, and a G-Shift button enables another layer of commands for as long as you press it.
Software Compatibility
While no software issues were present during testing, many users online have reported various problems with Logitech’s G HUB software. However, the mouse is fully compatible with both Windows and macOS.

(1) My recent acquisition for my new office role, which necessitates a significant amount of duplication and insertion, has been this device. The peripheral’s side buttons have been programmed by me to carry out this task, simplifying my life to a great extent! The software provided by Logitech is user-friendly, and the built-in memory is extremely useful, particularly since I’m unable to set it up from my workplace. I just created a profile at home, designated it as the built-in memory profile, and then transported it to my office. It operates flawlessly! Its weight is neither excessively heavy nor overly light, making it ideal for me since I’m not a fan of mice that are either too light or too heavy. As far as aesthetics go, this mouse is incredibly charming and aligns seamlessly with my style.
(2) This gaming mouse is an excellent choice considering its cost. Once you’ve adjusted it to your liking, it’s incredibly responsive. The G203 model reaches a maximum of 8000dpi, unlike some of Logitech’s more high-end alternatives. But in my opinion, 8000dpi is more than sufficient. In fact, I find the 3000-3200dpi range to be just right for me. This version also comes with Lightsync technology. A nifty feature is its ability to automatically tune the RGB lighting to match what’s being shown on your monitor. I’m a fan of its customizable buttons and find the number of buttons it offers just right for my usage. The scroll wheel has a pleasingly sharp action.
On the plus side: It fits my larger hand comfortably. The RGB lighting can be customized using G Hub It has a moderately lightweight. Precision is on point.
On the downside: The included cable is made of plastic. The sleek plastic doesn’t provide much grip. G Hub does not always launch on startup.
All things considered, this is an excellent budget gaming mouse that delivers much value. I managed to purchase mine at a discounted price. If you’re in the market for a wired Logitech gaming mouse, this should definitely be a contender on your shortlist.
Conclusion
In conclusion, these four Logitech gaming mice models all offer excellent performance and comfort, each with their distinct features. Whether you’re a casual gamer, professional gamer, office warrior or just occasionally use a computer you should be able to find a suitable mouse among these budget-friendly options.
